Valuing Differences

We are committed to becoming an employer of choice who recognise the value of diversity and have a number of diversity initiatives.

One such example is maternity leave.

In 2005, we explored the challenges new mothers face when going on maternity leave and returning to the workforce. We conducted focus groups across the country with mothers that had recently returned from maternity leave and asked them to share their experiences. After canvassing their views, we brainstormed many potential solutions to address the concerns raised.

Recommendations to improve the experience for mothers taking maternity leave were presented to the Jones Lang LaSalle National Diversity Council for review. These recommendations were fully endorsed by the Council and this paved the way for the development of new policies and practices to support our people.

To ensure the success of these initiatives, a new program was designed, to further support mothers commencing maternity leave and ensuring that their transition back to work was as seamless as possible. This program is called “Keeping in Touch” and is designed to keep those on maternity leave connected with the Firm. The program assists with planning for maternity leave, keeps you informed and up to date while you are on leave and helps with transitioning back into a suitable role.
