John Talbot, Managing Director, Investments and Advisory Group, Australia

I am the National Head of the Capital Markets division at Jones Lang LaSalle in Australia and am the international director of the firm. I also sit on the main executive board of the firm called the Australian Leadership team. I have spent most of my working career with Jones Lang LaSalle and recently notched up 20 years of service. In my current role I am responsible for the firms real estate investment sales business which is a dynamic group of 60 operatives who collectively sold over $7 billion worth of real estate last year. I have been involved in some of the largest real estate transactions to have taken place in Australia and can point to a number of iconic trophy office buildings in most of Australia's major cities that I have played a role in selling. Despite my leadership role and executive responsibilities I continue to enjoy working with clients in the market and love nothing better than the thrill of doing a deal. I commenced with the firm as a graduate and spent several years early on in my career in a variety of different job roles from property management to leasing to industrial and also valuations. This demonstrates the tremendous diversity of career opportunities at a firm like ours which has enabled me to advance my career and develop my skill sets without the need to look elsewhere. I have also enjoyed working in different geographic markets and also overseas with the firm during my career. I have had stints in New York and London as well as a couple of years in Melbourne, all of which have been very enriching and fulfilling.
