Andrew McColl, Head of Government Business, Corporate Solutions, Australia

I am responsible for a team of sixty five people that provides integrated property services to a number of Commonwealth Government departments on a national basis. We are all based in the Jones Lang LaSalle Canberra office. Our team regularly travels, including to some of the most remote areas of Australia. To me, there are many similarities with a work team and a sports team…our goals are to exceed the objectives we set, we endeavour to do well in everything we do, we support our fellow team members and, importantly, we celebrate our successes and try to have a bit of fun along the way. Like most teams, we have our stars, but we still cannot achieve our goals without the efforts of every individual in the team, as each one of them plays a vital role. My team is my top priority. I want to ensure that new team members will be a good fit with the firm, and that they have the right amount of support and training from us. This has paid off, as over the years my team has continually improved its collective performance. Jones Lang LaSalle offers its staff fantastic opportunities, both here in Australia or overseas. The company really rewards people who get in and have a go. Age is not a barrier to promotion; it is more about capability, performance and work ethics. I joined Jones Lang LaSalle about ten years ago. I have a very high level of job satisfaction. The company has been very good to me and I have exceeded my initial expectations in many ways. My biggest regret is that I did not join Jones Lang LaSalle ten years earlier.
